Life-threatening injuries after A31 crash

POLICE are appealing for witnesses after a crash closed part of the A31 near Alton yesterday.

The two-vehicle crash, involving a grey Suzuki Swift and a silver Audi A4, happened around 3.45pm on the eastbound carriageway just beyond the A339 Selborne turn off.

The driver of the Suzuki, a 28-year-old man from Guilford, suffered life-threatening injuries and was taken to Southampton General Hospital. He remains in a life-threatening condition, according to the police.

The Audi driver, a 55-year-old woman from South Wonston, suffered minor injuries.

The eastbound carriageway was fully re-opened shortly before 5pm.

Officers investigating the crash would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the incident or who saw either vehicle prior to the crash.
