Mayor presents golf cup

MORE than 80 golfers enjoyed a round of golf and slap-up lunch and helped raise a magnificent £3,000 plus for the Haslemere Mayor’s charities last week.

With a Sri Lankan theme and attended by mayor Sahran Abeysundara, and his consort Howard Bicknell, the day held at Hindhead Golf Club included a Queen’s toast of specially imported Colombo 7 Gin and some spectacular prizes including flights to flights to Sri Lanka donated by Oman Air and weekend stays at The Grand Hotel in Sri Lanka.

Pictured with the mayor were the winners – the  London Duck Tours team made up of John Bigos, Jack Frostick, Richard Toogood and Chris Kirkness with a score of 93 points.

A new golf trophy presented to Haslemere Town Council by the mayor and his consort was awarded to the winners. along with some amazing prizes. Prizes were also donated for the silent auction and raffle by Tracy Park Hotel, The Buckinghamshire Hotel, Chart Hills and Old Thorns Hotel.

The well-attended event raised much-needed funds for The Kaleidoscope Trust, The Haslemere Penny Ha’ Penny Trust, Action Medical Research for Children and Positive Action.
