Two teenagers have been arrested on suspicion of poaching after ten pheasants were killed in Hampshire.

Police were called to reports of people trespassing on land in Upton Grey at around 5pm on Tuesday, September 29, amid concerns about hare coursing.

Officers found a 19-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy, both from Surrey, sitting in a Honda CR-V. Two catapults and ball bearings were seized during searches of the pair and the vehicle.

Both were arrested on suspicion of possessing an offensive weapon and daytime trespass in pursuit of game.

Police said they suspected the pair had been involved in an incident in the same area two days earlier, in which ten pheasants were killed.

Both have been released on bail until December 29, with conditions including a ban on returning to Hampshire, while enquiries continue.
