WAVERLEY councillors have called for a comprehensive review of the borough's elderly services and grants allocation process after rejecting proposed cuts to two community organisations' grants this week.

Waverley's grants panel recommended a 32 per cent cut to the grant for Age UK Waverley, which operates advice, gardening and handy-man services across the borough, and a 6.4 per cent cut for The Clockhouse day centre in Milford.

But at Monday's meeting of the Waverley's community overview and scrutiny committee, councillors voted unanimously against the cuts – opting instead to freeze the two grants at last year's level.
