An East Hampshire artist is literally putting herself in the shop window as she’s sprinkling some festive magic on our local high streets.
Sarah Jamieson is proving a big draw to retailers and Christmas shoppers with her amazing festive window art.
The Farnham UCA graduate from Lindford has already made her mark in Grayshott with a snowflake-themed display in Gillie G’s on Crossways Road.
And she was in Petersfield on Wednesday (November 4) giving the window of Hector’s on Chapel Street a very seasonal makeover.
“Five years ago I worked in retail dressing windows until I was made redundant – and now I decorate them,” said Sarah, who got “stuck in retail” after getting a diploma.
“I used to work for Ralph Lauren and my job was to bring customers in, so it’s great to use that experience to help smaller businesses like this one.”

She said: “I’m finding that because of AI people are wanting bespoke items and that couples well with my ten years of retail experience.
“It’s quite a nice thing to do because it’s supporting the retail industry.”
While interest in Hallowe’en displays is rising, Christmas is always Sarah’s busiest time of the year and she’s got quite a full calendar for the coming weeks.
It typically takes a day to decorate a window, depending on the design, with Hector’s wanting a display that links in with its equestrian theme.
“I’m so used to sitting in a window,” laughs Sarah, who often draws on both sides of the glass to create layers.
“When I did Gillie G’s I was painting for three hours and got so much attention.
“If you’re outside painting people often say ‘wow – do you do that?’ and that’s a nice feeling.”
