Three songs by the late Michael White, founder of Godalming’s legendary Record Corner shop, will receive their world premiere as part of Elgar’s Music Makers concert at Charterhouse School on June 30.
Mr White was a musical mentor for leading art historian and opera critic Patrick Bade and left him a few scores of songs and a handful of privately-recorded 78s.
Patrick has made the unpublished manuscripts available to Godalming Choral Society and its music director Sam Hayes has edited and arranged three of the songs.
“I am deeply grateful to Michael for the way he enriched my life and I have taken it as a mission to ensure his delightful music will not disappear without trace,” Patrick said.
