Grayshott Village Hall has completed a major heating upgrade, replacing ageing boilers with a new energy-efficient system.

The hall, which welcomes about 29,000 visitors a year, has installed high-efficiency boilers and improved heating controls to reduce energy consumption, carbon emissions and maintenance costs.

The previous heating system, parts of which were more than 40 years old, had become increasingly unreliable.

The new controls will also allow individual rooms to be heated only when they are being used, helping to keep running costs down.

The village hall hosts more than 2,100 bookings a year for more than 100 local organisations, including fitness classes, theatre groups, health clinics and community events.

Reliable and accessible facilities are particularly important for older residents, young families and local voluntary groups, helping the hall maintain its role as a year-round hub for health, wellbeing and social connection.

Trustees say the improvements will help keep hire charges affordable while ensuring the hall remains a welcoming venue for residents of Grayshott, Hindhead, Haslemere and surrounding villages.

The project, completed in August, was supported by grants totalling £65,000.

East Hampshire District Council contributed £20,000 through its Developer Contributions fund, while the National Lottery Community Fund provided £20,000, Haslemere Town Council £15,000 and Grayshott Parish Council £10,000.

Councillor Angela Glass, East Hampshire District Council's portfolio holder for regulation and enforcement, said: "Developer contributions play a vital role in ensuring that new growth directly benefits our communities.

"This is an excellent project and a fantastic use of Community Infrastructure Levy funding.

"I am delighted that we have been able to support improvements to a village hall that is so well used by local residents."

The trustees thanked all four organisations for their financial support.
