An event which offers information, support and advice to people connected to the Armed Forces is returning to an East Hampshire town next weekend.

If you’ve got a link to the military then it’s worth checking out the East Hampshire Veterans Festival in Petersfield.

The town council, EHDC and Royal British Legion have come together to bring the annual event to Petersfield Festival from 10am to 3pm this Saturday (September 19).

The free drop-in event is a chance for everyone in the district to show their appreciation for armed forces personnel past and present and their families.

Visitors to the “lively” festival can get guidance and information from local and national groups, charities and organisations linked to the armed forces community.

Support, advice, discussion, networking and friendship will be offered along with activities and safe spaces for private conversations.

“The festival gives our serving and former military personnel and their families a chance to meet up, chat and share experiences,” said a spokesperson for EHDC.

“If you, or a family member, has served in the armed forces and looking for help, advice or support on anything, this is for you.”

Visitors will find information on support services ranging from childcare, employment and finance to housing, pensions and welfare support.

Information on how to apply for an HM Armed Forces Veteran Card and other discounts will also be available along with refreshments and light entertainment.

“It’s great to see the event returning to Petersfield,” said town councillor and staunch supporter, Lesley Farrow.

“The festival brings together organisations, veterans, families and local residents, helping people to access information, support and advice in one place.”

Cllr Farrow added: “I would encourage local organisations to get involved and come and see what’s available.”
