For Harry and Lana Roberts, results day came with twice the nerves – and twice the reason to celebrate.

The 18-year-old twins from Liphook have both achieved three A*s and secured places at Cambridge University.

The Bohunt School students studied chemistry, biology and maths together and were even in the same class. Now they are heading to Cambridge to study natural sciences, with Harry going to Sidney Sussex College and Lana to Lucy Cavendish College.

“I was getting A*s in my mocks, so I was hoping I could get it,” he said. “The mocks and past papers went well, but chemistry was the biggest problem paper and I was a bit nervous after it.”

Lana was also hoping for the grades she needed, while knowing results day could bring surprises.

“I was hoping to get A*s, but obviously there is quite a bit of unpredictability,” she said.

“It always feels like it went worse than the mocks in the real thing. You just start overthinking things, but it went OK.”

It went more than OK, with both twins securing their Cambridge places. If there was ever a case for saying two heads are better than one, this might be it. Their parents marked the occasion by taking them out for a celebratory meal.

And the academic success did not stop at Cambridge.

Churcher’s College student Kian Noorani, from the Haslemere area, is also Oxford-bound after achieving top marks in three subjects and completing an Extended Project Qualification.

He met his offer for Hertford College and is looking forward to finally beginning the next chapter.

“I can’t wait to go to university. We’ve been building up to Oxford for quite a while now and I’m really looking forward to it. I’ll miss Churcher’s, though.”
