The latest Unravel yarn festival will take place at the Farnham Maltings on September 11 and 12.
There will be beautifully crafted yarns and hand-made goods in the curated marketplace, showcasing the very best of yarn producers, independent yarn dyers and designers from the UK and beyond.
Visitors can browse and buy a wide range of yarns, accessories, kits and hand-made items directly from independent makers.
Attendees can also develop new techniques and expand their skills through an exciting programme of bookable workshops designed for all abilities.
The festival features workshops covering everything from cable knitting for beginners to reversible crochet techniques and Victorian lace knitting.
Festival entry includes free access to a selection of inspiring talks exploring personal and creative stories from across the knitting community.
This year’s speakers include Jen Hunter from Fernhill Farm, an award-winning eco farm, breeding British sheep for speciality fibres and land restoration; a former yarn shop owner, Rosie Fletcher, sharing insights from her experience in the yarn industry; Channel 4’s The Game of Wool contestant Simon Fannon discussing his journey from veteran to knitter; and knitwear designer Aleksandra Solowianiuk exploring the anatomy of yarn. The talks are sponsored by Stephen and Penelope.
Knit Night Social returns on September 11. Hosted by Di Gilpin - designer, maker and judge on Channel 4’s The Game of Wool - the evening promises stitching, chatting and a delicious three-course meal.
Farnham Maltings’ Riverside Café will be open throughout the festival, which runs from 9.30am to 5pm on September 11 and 9.30am to 4pm on September 12.
Full price tickets cost £11 in advance and £15 on the door. The cost is £5 for those aged 18 to 25 if booked in advance. There is a ten per cent discount for Farnham Maltings members. Under-18s will be admitted free. Workshop bookings include same-day entry to the festival.
