Petersfield Physic Garden is appealing for someone to take on the role of gatekeeper so the garden can continue opening.

A spokesman said: “Our gatekeeper has retired after years of opening the beautiful oak gates at about 9am and closing them at about 5pm.

“So we are appealing for another volunteer, or volunteers, to take over, otherwise the gates may remain permanently closed.”

The physic garden is a private garden open to the public free of charge, providing a green oasis in the centre of town.
