POWERING onto Lion Green at the end of the month will be the ninth Haslemere Classic Car Show, featuring a dazzling cast of pre-77 pin ups plus vintage entertainment for all the family.
First up, 90 cars from the early 1900s to 1977 meet on the green for breakfast on Sunday, May 28, before leaving for a route round the local countryside and returning between midday and 1pm for the start of the show.
The tour has been fully subscribed with a waiting list for many months.
The tour cars will be joined by more pre-booked classics in a show ranging from exotic sports cars, elegant pre-war tourers, everyday family classics, to Americana and hot-rods with entries from most of the major marques.
Only vehicles that have booked and are displaying a numbered pass will be able to park at the showground.
Motorists are encouraged to dress in period outfits to match their cars and are eligible for the ‘Best dressed car and crew’ award, sponsored by estate agents Keats with a Goodwood voucher for the winners.
Visitors also get a chance to vote for the car they would most like to take home in the ‘People’s choice’ competition, and sponsor, The Brookland’s Museum Trust, is offering a visit for two to the museum with a guided tour and lunch.
Further highlights are a traditional vintage-style fete with a jazz band, children’s activities, food, bar and the Women’s Institute will serve cream teas.
The green will be lined with quality stalls selling local produce, crafts, art, vintage and classic car products. The Haslemere Classic Car Show will also unveil its Haslemere Hog decorated by town artist Derek Matthews.
Entrance is free, but visitors are asked to support the show by buying a lucky programme for £1, which lists all the cars on display and the chance to win a prize in the programme draw.
The show organised by Haslemere-based classic car restorer and broker. James Ewing,
