FOUR Surrey Police teams are going head-to-head in an Apprentice-style challenge to see who can raise the most money for this year’s Chief Constable’s Charity, Shooting Star Chase.

The teams, which will be made up of Surrey Police officers and staff from across the county, will be taking over Shooting Star Chase charity shops to see how much money they can make. Just like the BBC’s The Apprentice, competition is fierce, with teams calling on their ingenuity and resourcefulness to win the challenge and contribute as much cash as possible for Shooting Star Chase.

Chief Constable Lynne Owens said: ‘I’m really looking forward to the challenge of pitting my sales techniques against the other teams, but I confess that it isn’t my natural skill set so my team might regret welcoming my involvement.

“I have a few tricks up my sleeve and some innovative ideas to tempt potential customers through the door and it should be a fun and entertaining day for everyone involved.”

Shooting Star Chase is a leading children’s hospice charity caring for babies, children and young people with life-limiting conditions, and their families in the Surrey area.

The charity was chosen as the Chief’s Charity this year by the officers, staff and volunteers of the force. Its shops are located in Ashford, Hampton Hill, Shepperton, Teddington, Twickenham, Walton, Weybridge, Whitton and Guildford.

Chief Constable Owens added: “They do such amazing work and I would encourage people to support us in helping to raise as much money as possible for this worthy cause.”
