Haslemere and District Community Centre has installed new solar panels after receiving a near-£40,000 cash windfall.

The centre was awarded £38,920 by Haslemere Town Council through the Neighbourhood Community Infrastructure Levy.

This is money paid by developers of large housing schemes towards community infrastructure improvements.

A town council spokesman said the panels will contribute towards Haslemere’s net-zero commitment and provide a long-term benefit to the community.
