DETECTIVES from British Transport Police have been granted another 12 hours to question two people in connection to the murder investigation at Horsley station, Surrey.
A 35-year-old man was arrested in Farnham on Saturday morning on suspicion of murder, in connection to the fatal stabbing of Lee Pomeroy, 51, on board a train on January 4.
A 27-year-old woman was also arrested on suspicion of assisting an offender.
Both will remain in police custody while the investigation continues.
In what police described as an act of "extraordinary violence", Mr Pomeroy was stabbed multiple times in front of his teenage son shortly after 1pm on Friday, following an altercation on-board a Guildford to London Waterloo train.
The married father of one, was on his way into London with his 14-year-old son for a day out when the deadly incident happened.
Police immediately launched a hunt for the killer and initially focussed their enquiries on the Clandon area where the suspect left the train.
However, BTP later confirmed: "At around 6am, officers attended an address in the Farnham area where the man was detained on suspicion of murder".
The suspect was earlier described as a black man, aged in his 20s to 30s, approximately 6ft tall and of slim build with a beard, believed to be dressed all in black with white trainers.
Officers are continuing to appeal for information, and have asked anyone who was on the train at the time or who has dash-cam footage of the Clandon area after 1pm on January 4 to get in touch as soon as possible.
