•Thieves broke into a property in Beech Road, Haslemere, between 8am and early afternoon, while the homeowners were away.

The offender forced the entry through the side door and made off with two mobile phones, cash and jewellery.

Detective Inspector Peter Howgate said: “We are aware of the concerns of residents and we are working hard to tackle burglaries in the area.

“We have not been and will not be complacent and the offence of burglary remains a priority for Surrey Police.

“Burglary is a distressing experience for anyone but I would like to reassure residents that we are taking positive action to defer offenders.

“In recent weeks, we’ve put behind bars a number of burglars who were responsible for more than 60 offences across the county, and at the weekend two more were charged with 23 offences in Waverley area.

“I hope these examples send a direct warning to burglars to think twice about commiting offences.”
