A LANDMARK tree was planted by Grayshott Pottery’s managing director Glenn Myers during the village’s first community gardening week.
Grayshott Parish Council timed the event to coincide with the RHS National Gardens Week and it started with the ceremonial planting of a ‘New Horizons’ elm in Headley Road.
During the week, parish councillors joined fellow residents to tidy up Grayshott’s community areas, mounted a children’s treasure hunt, hosted an information event in the village hall and organised a guided tree walk led by local historian John Childs.
“It all went very well and we were lucky with the weather,” parish council clerk Laura Musco said. “We hope it made people more aware of how much green space the council is responsible for.
“We look after more than 400 trees in our little village, and we now have more than 60 hanging baskets. Fortunately we have a wonderful band of volunteers.”
