Charity shop Resurrection Furniture has given £1,000 to a voluntary group which provides knitted prosthesis for cancer patients.

It is the first beneficiary of the latest scheme introduced by the shop in Alton High Street, which opened five years ago after developing out of the monthly furniture sale at the St Lawrence Parish Centre.

A spokesperson said: “One of our goals is to support youth work and those less fortunate. We have a new idea to ask our volunteers to nominate a charity of their choice to receive a small grant. We support a wide range of charities and community activities in the town.”
