A CHARITY that has provided transport for medical appointments for people in Alton and the surrounding villages since 1975 is in urgent need of volunteer drivers.

Bill Griffin, chairman of Alton Community Care, writes in a letter to this week’s Herald: "Covid-19 has presented us with unique challenges in meeting the demand for transport for the vaccination programme and also for Covid-19 tests prior to in-patient admittance, at a time when some of our drivers have had to temporarily withdraw. With the booster vaccination programme now gathering pace, we are very much in need of more volunteer drivers."
