Mr Eckles said: “I knew some of these guests had already been to Jane Austen’s House in Chawton, and so this was one obvious link, Jane having spent her last eight weeks in the Cathedral Close.
“I combined these with a walk around the cathedral precincts, past the apartment where Jane died in July 1817, and along the River Itchen.
“The groups loved Winchester and its history, and some wanted to stay at the cathedral longer!”
