ONE of the biggest events in the East Hampshire calendar returns this weekend to a beauty spot near Petersfield.

Expect to see everything from jousting to juggling at the South Downs Show with organisers promising an awesome weekend of family fun and entertainment.

The two-day spectacle at Queen Elizabeth Country Park is once again being overseen by the Hometown Events team who hold bank holiday festivals in Petersfield town centre.

And their programme doesn’t disappoint with arena acts, animals, crafts, stalls and street food vendors all vying for attention.

Arena acts include an Epic Jousting Tournament by the Knights of Nottingham, falconry and a gun dog display.

Expect to see plenty of animals with dogs, sheep, ferrets and alpacas all making an appearance along with a petting zoo.

The Dog Zone will get plenty of tails wagging and there’s a glut of displays and hands-on activities for the curious to check out.

Traditional crafts will be showcased through groups like The Solent Guild of Woodcarvers and Blackwell Bushcraft, while fans of classic vehicles will love the Land Rover Series One Club exhibition and Wessex Historic Tractor and Implements Club.

There will also be a focus on country sports as the Wickham & District Rifle Club and Raven Field Archers will both have stalls where visitors can try their hand with further exhibitions dedicated to metal detecting and the Hampshire Search & Rescue team.

The show will be open to the public from 10am to 5pm on both days with ticket prices starting at £7 for children and £8 concessions. Adult and family tickets are £10 and £28, respectively, for more details visit www.southdownsshow.com
