COUNCILLORS have signed off a one per cent pay rise for all Waverley Borough Council staff.

Its decision-making executive committee agreed to the pay award, following negotiations with council officers and their union representatives, at its meeting on Tuesday.

The agreement also includes a commitment to continue paying the living wage and the promise of loans for rail and car park season tickets, bicycles and cars for “essential car owners”.

Executive members noted the one per cent award was in line with those agreed by the Ministry of Defence and NHS.
