THE joys of nature were the theme for two creative wellbeing workshops at Haslemere Museum, led by professional artist Diana Burch.

Visitors enjoyed the opportunity to create artworks in a range of different media, using drawing and painting techniques.

Inks were used to create colourful collages, together with pastels with the addition of seed head and leaf shapes as stencils.

Diana said: “Our workshops focus on wellbeing and are a fun way for people to take some time out of from their busy day to day lives, in a friendly, relaxed setting.

“Skills ranged from crom complete beginners to the more experienced, and some fabulous and varied artworks were produced.

“It was lovely to see everyone try something new and surprise themselves with what they can achieve.”

A highlight of the museum’s action-packed programme for October is a 130th anniversary celebrations talk by TV presenter, gastronome and musician Lloyd Grosman.

Lloyd, who is a patron of the museum, will explore the attractions of London’s eight Royal Parks, which cover 5,000 acres in an area stretching from Richmond and Bushy in the southwest to Greenwich in the southeast and attract more than 77 million visitors a year - more than all the national museums in the city combined.

He will speak tonight (Thursday) at 7.30pm. On Wednesday, October 24, the museum is hosting another special opening for families with children who have an autism spectrum condition to enjoy a good look around free from the hustle and bustle of public opening times.

Visitors from 9am to 10am, will also have the opportunity to handle special objects.

Thrills galore are promised on Friday, October 26, from 1.30-4.30pm when families are invited to dress up as wizards, ghosts and ghouls for creepy crafts and pumpkin carving (bring your own pumpkin), and join the annual Halloween procession through the town, leaving the museum at 4.30pm.

On Saturday, October 27, there will be a special Hallowe’en opening, from 6-8pm, with a trail, colouring activities and magical storytelling as part of Museums at Night.
