A BUS passenger was taken to hospital with burns after a live firework was thrown inside at a Witley bus stop,.
Police received a call at 5.10pm yesterday (Nov 6) reporting that a firework had been thrown through a bus window while it was stopped at a bus stop in the village.
Waverley Borough Commander Gary Smith, said: “We want to reassure the public that this despicable behaviour will not be tolerated and these actions could have been incredibly serious. Sadly, one passenger was taken to hospital with burn injuries, and as such, this incident is being investigated as ABH.”
A spokesman from SECAmb said: "We were called to Petworth Road in Witley at around 5.15pm, near to the White Hart hotel.
"One female had been injured by a firework which had gone off in the bus. She was checked at the scene and taken to Royal Surrey County Hospital in Guildford for further checks.
A Stagecoach South spokesman added: "One of our vehicles was involved in an incident last night in which a firework was thrown by a pedestrian into the bus.
"As a result, one passenger on the bus required medical treatment and was taken to hospital.
"Our first thoughts are for the welfare of the passenger involved. Clearly this kind of behaviour is dangerous and completely unacceptable.
"We will assist the police in any way we can to help with the investigation to track down those responsible.”
