HAMPSHIRE businesses trained more than 889 people per month in vital first-aid skills with St John Ambulance in 2015, according to new figures.

St John Ambulance, which raises funds for its work by providing commercial first-aid courses, trained 10,671 people in the county – up from 10,448 in 2014.

Its workplace training manager Deborah Adwent said: “Our figures show businesses in Hampshire are committed to meeting their first-aid responsibilities and ensuring the health and wellbeing of their staff and customers.

“We hope that even more businesses step forward to train their staff this year.

“St John Ambulance provides quality training, and many of the people we teach on a workplace first-aid course go on to use their skills to save lives at home or in their communities.

“First-aid emergencies really can happen at any time anywhere.”
