BRINGING out the talent from across the generations proved to be a sure-fire winner for this year’s hugely successful Chiddfest, on Saturday.

Raising more than last year’s magnificent £19,000 and held at Chiddingfold recreation ground in Coxcombe Road, the festival was buzzing with the sounds of live staged music from jazz to opera and crowds of people eager to join in the fun.

While the weather was slightly disappointing, the entertainment was anything but, and meant the efforts of the volunteers who organised and staffed it were rewarded.

“With the help of The Music Works in Milford, we were able to host some great acts,” said Lucy Taylor, Chiddfest organiser and member of St Mary’s School Parent Teacher Association. “The musicians and dancers were all amazing. The school children did a fantastic version of Rag n Bone Man’s big hit, Human, and the teachers also put on a brilliant performance,” said Lucy.

And what’s more the school’s ‘Save Sir Pigalot Fund’ met its target of £200, which means St Mary’s gets to keep its beloved pig. Lucy added: “We have so much local talent spanning all generations and I hope Chiddfest helps inspire more people to get involved with music and performing.”

”Chiddfest encompasses everything our village holds dear. It brings together the whole community to raise money for our fantastic school and youth groups whilst having fun in the process. It was really was a fantastic event that Chiddingfold should be very proud of.

Chiddfest is a biennial event so Lucy and the gang are looking forward to seeing everyone again in 2019. She also thanked local businesses who donated generously.
