ST IVES pupils pushed the boundaries in a three-day Wizard of Oz-themed maths festival.

The celebrations started with a dressing-up day, which saw an influx of Dorothies, lions, scarecrows, tin men and Wicked Witches of the West.

Over the festival, pupils were tasked with a host of maths activities, including a ruby slippers investigation, junk modelling, an inter-house quiz, learning how to play bridge and a speed stacking challenge.

The children also enjoyed a baking extravaganza, in which they had to design, make, decorate and advertise Wizard of Oz biscuits. They were also asked to create a board game and present it at the closing assembly.

Headteacher Kay Goldsworthy said: “Our maths festival has been a huge success.”
