BARROW Hills School, in Witley, has appointed Eva Garcia Claramonte as the preparatory school’s head of science.

Ms Garcia (pictured) – as she is referred to by pupils and staff – is a former deputy head and head of science at Barrow Hills having left eight years ago.

She has returned to the school after spending time in a variety of different teaching environments spanning both senior and preparatory schools.

After graduating from Surrey University with a joint honours in biology and chemistry, Ms Garcia went on to gain her PGCE qualification at Goldsmiths, University of London.

Ms Garcia said: “I’m delighted to have returned to such a caring school and I am really enjoying inspiring a love of science amongst all the children.

“I hope to encourage a ‘can do’ attitude to the discipline, to prove that science is a subject for everyone. I am establishing good cross-curricular links and working closely with my new colleagues to ensure the teaching of science ties in with other subjects.”
