MUSICIANS and local performers are doing their bit to support charitable efforts for Ukraine. The concert at Spire Church, Farnham, a few weeks ago raised more than £2,700.

Meanwhile local band Hurly Burly, who are playing at The Plough, Farnham, this Friday night, have their song Madness on an album called A demo for Ukraine. It is a compilation album which will be released on all major digital platforms to raise funds for the humanitarian effort via The Disasters Emergency Committee (DEC).

It is organised by Paul Evans Music (https://www.paulevans-music.com/)

Rushmoor Male Voice Choir will be singing at North Camp Methodist Church in Farnborough on Saturday, April 30. There is free entry with a retiring collection for the choir funds and donation to the Ukraine Humanitarian Fund.

Farnham Maltings’ Lunchtime Jazz returns on April 28 with two special guests. Trombonist Edwin ‘Boots’ Baker has been a stalwart of the jazz scene locally and nationally for many years. From appearances with the band of clarinet player Alvin Roy at the 100 Club in London in the early 70s through to the ska band Key Lime Pi, Boots has brought his glorious tone and effortless lyricism to a wide variety of musical styles during his career.

They also welcome back Terence Collie, who impressed the audience so much with his inventive playing on his previous visit to the Maltings.

The line-up is completed by Marianne Windham on double bass and Alex Forsyth on saxophone. Entry is £8 and it starts at 1pm (www.farnhammaltings.com) .
