CHILDREN in Eastern Europe will have Christmas presents of love to open thanks to a collection by children from Grayswood Infant School, Shottermill schools and All Saints Church, Grayswood.

Altogether 119 shoeboxes filled with gifts are on their way via the charity Samaritans Purse, which helps children experiencing hardship through its campaign Operation Christmas Child.

Headteacher at Grayswood Infant School, Anne Bristowe, said: "We have collected for the last few years and it is a great way to start the season, and encourages the children to think about the giving aspect of Christmas."
