SCIENCE week at Grayswood Infant School got off to a flying start when Surrey Falconry visited with birds of prey on Monday.

The display of hawks, owls and falcons gave the children a thrilling flying raptor experience at the start of a dedicated science week during which the whole school is focusing on the topic of "flight".

The pupils could see first hand how feathers create lift and wings are used in steering. Activities planned throughout the week are designed to encourage hands-on exploration and discovery.

On Tuesday, the children were making catapults and planes, while year one and two pupils took a trip to Intech interactive science centre in Winchester.
