A GOOD turnout is hoped for outside the town hall when Haslemere Town Council hoists the Commonwealth flag.

The town will host one of more than 730 ceremonies in locations across the UK and Commonwealth. The ‘Fly a Flag for the Commonwealth’ initiative is in its third year.

The flag will be raised on Memorial Green in the High Street at 10m, on Monday, March 13, in front of members of the council and local schoolchildren.

For the first time in 2017, members of the United Kingdom Army Cadet Force will also take the Commonwealth flag to the top of the highest peaks in England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland.
