HASLEMERE family Jason, Juliet and Harry Combe are holding a charity football tournament on Sunday, September 9 in loving memory of Zak.

Zak Combe sadly died aged 21 as a result of a road traffic collision on the A3 southbound near the Thursley junction on Saturday, June 3, 2017.

Surrey Police were called out just after 4am, following reports of a van hitting a pedestrian.

Officers attended, together with South East Coast Ambulance and Guildford and Godalming fire crews, but he was declared dead at the scene.

All proceeds from The Zak Combe Cup 2018 will go towards Brake, the road safety charity, a cause close to the family’s heart.

Brake’s work includes providing essential support services for families who are devastated by death or injury on roads, and campaigning to prevent casualties and make communities safer.

Zak’s father Jason, said: “Brake has helped my family after the devastation of the death of our beautiful son aged 21 in a road traffic collision. Learning from Brake about the help and support they offer, together with the amount of tragic fatalities and crashes that happen every day on our roads, made me realise the important work Brake do for so many broken grieving families like my own. Thank you Brake.”

The tournament will be held at Grayshott Cricket Club on Headley Road between midday and 10pm. It will see 14 teams competing, with 112 players taking part. AS well as football, there will be a food stall with food cooked by a local celebrity chef, a DJ, a club bar, ice cream stand, raffle and a balloon release in Zak’s memory. To end the evening there will be a fireworks display.
