Farnham Town Council has marked the official retirement of Robin Cooper, a valued member of its outside workforce team after 26 years.

Robin joined Farnham Town Council in 1996 as an outside general assistant, and he has made significant contributions to the maintenance and upkeep of Farnham’s open spaces and cemeteries.

His expertise has helped Farnham win 22 gold medals at South and South East in Bloom and three golds at RHS Britain in Bloom.

Robin has, though, opted for a ‘flexible retirement’ and will still help keep the town look its best two days a week.

Iain Lynch, clerk at Farnham Town Council, said: “Robin has been a familiar figure around Farnham for more than a quarter of a century. He has been an invaluable member of the team so we are pleased he will continue to work with us for the foreseeable future.”

The outside workforce and an army of volunteers help with the upkeep of Farnham’s open spaces and plant some 44,000 plug plants for Farnham in Bloom every year. Their efforts are much valued by Farnham Town Council.
