Haslemere Library was on a roll with its knitting project.

The library launched a project to knit or crochet granny squares to be made into blankets last year.

Since then many hours and needles have been spent making four blankets to be donated to the Rotary Club of Haslemere who will auction them off, with the proceeds going to local charities.

The Haslemere community really embraced this project and the library was overwhelmed by everyone's generosity with more than 1000 knitted or crochet squares donated.

The library held crafting sessions on Saturdays where members of the community stitched the squares together.

The remaining squares were made into scarves, bags and hats with most donated to the Haslemere Foodbank.

Cllr Robini from Surrey County Council attended an event at the library on Thursday, April 4 where he handed over the four blankets to the Rotary Club. He was joined by mayor Jerome Davidson.
