A CARE home that opened in Hindhead in November has already gained an accolade.
Oak Hall, which is based at former Wispers School, is one of three care homes in Surrey owned by Elizabeth Finn Homes voted one of the best care home groups in the UK.
Elizabeth Finn Homes is in the Top 20 Care Home Group Awards. Two other homes are in Surrey – Merlewood in Virginia Water and Eversfield in Reigate. Carehome.co.uk is the leading UK review website, with 18,108 listings, more than 16 million visits a year, and over 120,000 reviews.
The awards are judged using the ratings posted by residents and their families on carehome.co.uk. Groups are sub-divided into three categories in size and following the recent addition of Oak Hall, Elizabeth Finn has competed for the first time in the mid-size category.
Richard Hawes, chief executive of Elizabeth Finn Homes, said: “We are delighted to have been ranked as one of the top 20 care home groups in the UK.
“It is particularly pleasing to note this award is a result of feedback given by residents and their families as there is no better measure of the standards we are delivering on a daily basis.
“I’d like to thank my entire team for their outstanding performance.”
South West Surrey MP and foreign secretary Jeremy Hunt dropped into newly-opened Oak Hall Nursing Home in Hindhead last December to meet the staff and residents.
Oak Hall, the tenth addition to the portfolio that Elizabeth Finn Homes operates across England, is based at the former Wispers School, a grade II listed building designed in the Tudor Revival style by Richard Norman Shaw.
Residents occupy the upper floor of Oak Hall as well as the annexe and share the club facilities with Wispers Retirement Village residents, who live in a separate development on 58 apartments in the grounds extending to 25 acres.
Oak Hall offers 51 rooms and a range of care options, from residential to full nursing care, also convalescence, respite and specialist palliative care.
The team of nurses and carers is led by general manager Karen Williams.
