IT was smiles all round when Dylan’s ice cream founder Ben Govier supported a pop-up parlour in the Wey Centre, for A Place to Be youth group, last Friday.

Haslemere Mayor Malcolm Carter joined in the fun at the open evening for families and friends, when more than 40 group members designed their own recipes, and Dylan’s made and donated the popcorn and apple, pear, toffee, biscuit flavours.

Group members set up and ran the cafe ad visitors could also play board games, pool, ping pong and table football.

“The atmosphere was fun and relaxed,” youth leader Daisy Owen said. “The young people who attended, worked hard to provide a great night for the visitors. The total amount raised for A Place to Be was £164.

“The group for 11 to 14 year olds runs a programme of different activities each week. Next term our project is ‘The Environment’.

“We also serve food, play a different sport and provide a short mindfulness session each week.”

Dylan’s has launched a kickstarter campaign to raise £40,000 to convert an empty candle warehouse at Fernhurst Business Park into an ice cream factory, so Ben can build on the success of his Wey Hill parlour and expand the business.
