HUNDREDS of mourners attended the funeral of a much-loved Fernhurst resident, who was found murdered in his own home.

The body of Michael Griffiths, 59, a master jeweller and collector, was discovered inside his burning home by firefighters, on January 24.

Sussex Police launched a murder inquiry after establishing he had suffered a "significant assault" and accelerants had been used to start the fire. 

A team of detectives from the Surrey and Sussex Major Crime Team are following a number of lines of enquiry but have yet to make any arrests.
