HASLEMERE Mayor Sahran Abeysundara cut the ribbon to celebrate the town’s new-look Busy Bees nursery.
In addition to guided tours, visitors also enjoyed a morning of family fun with children’s entertainer, Happy Hands Pottery Painting, helping children create their own ceramics, a pizza parlour, further arts and crafts activities, face painting and Euro 2016-themed games.
Proceeds from the raffle were donated to Winston’s Wish, the childhood bereavement charity Busy Bees nurseries across the UK are supporting this year.
The nursery’s new kitchen is at the heart of the revamp and its head chef Charlotte Cory, served up taster platters, as well as cream teas with the proceeds donated to the charity.
Busy Bees now has open-plan rooms and a pre-school academy with brand new ICT facilities and a discovery suite featuring a whole range of equipment, such as illuminating tables, light-changing toys, and binoculars to carry out scientific experiments.
Nursery manager Lisa Marden said: “We’re so excited about our nursery.
“It feels brand new and our resources will go a long way to enhancing our children’s everyday learning experiences. As well as a state-of-the-art new pre-school academy, our garden areas have been completely landscaped to provide each age group with their own age-specific garden space and apparatus with access from their rooms to allow for much better free flow.”
The money will go towards specialist bereavement support programmes including therapeutic services, drop-in sessions, a pre-school help book and a national helpline.
In total, 257 nurseries are helping Winston’s Wish across the UK?in 2016.
