IF you have got acres of grassland to keep in check, 'ewe' had better get a flock of sheep to maintain it.

Youngsters were able to get up close to some of the lambs used to manage the land at the National Trust's Swan Barn, which is just a stone's throw from the heart of Haslemere town centre.

A display of environmentally-conscious woodworking skills was put on for visitors as the new Speckled Wood building used to house volunteer workers on the estate was officially opened on Saturday. Craftsmen displayed their talents to the adults and children alike, including a chance to build some bird's next boxes.
