Campaigners condemned Surrey County Council's decision to divide its review of on-street parking in Haslemere into three phases rather than consider what is needed as a whole.
But despite a stream of objections to phase one proposals – expressed in writing as part of the public consultation in July and August – and voiced again by members of the public at the start of last week's meeting, committee members agreed the first part of the scheme will be formally advertised in October.
Residents will have a further opportunity to comment and their responses will be reported back to the local committee during a 28-day consultation, before detailed plans are drawn up and residents only parking permits and new yellow lines are implemented in the new year.
