PRIME Minister David Cameron has backed the beleaguered South West Surrey MP Jeremy Hunt following last week's revelations surrounding the failed BSkyB bid.

Despite calls from Labour and the Lib Dems for the Culture Secretary to stand down after links between his office and News Corporation's James Murdoch were revealed, Mr Hunt has so far clung on to his cabinet post.

Mr Cameron supported his minister, during a speech to the House of Commons, reiterating his belief that Mr Hunt had not broken the ministerial code and that the MP's handling of the BSkyB bid should be examined by the ongoing Leveson inquiry into press ethics.
