MAJOR roadworks are due to start on the A287 Hindhead Road out of Haslemere today.

The resurfacing work from the Polecat Lane junction to the Tesco traffic lights at Lion Green is to be done at night, so highway bosses hope disruption will be kept to a minimum.

The work is scheduled to be done over 14 nights.

Meanwhile Haslemere's Surrey county councillor Nikki Barton told The Herald she hoped "lessons had been learned" after poor signage and communications caused disruptions during recent resurfacing of the A286 route to and from the town.
