THE Sainsbury’s Sport Relief Mile in Waverley raised a whopping £10,101, thanks to more than 360 people running and walking.
Participants of all ages were sponsored for one, three or six miles across the challenging course at Frensham Great Pond and Common to raise money.
Jenny Else, the borough council’s portfolio holder for health, well-being and culture said: “Waverley’s participants, our local heroes, played no small part in making this year a record breaking year for Sport Relief.
“It is heart-warming that the community came together to support a great cause, which will help people in need here in the UK and in some of the world’s poorest countries.”
