HASLEMERE Museum is celebrating its 130th anniversary this year with a whole range of activities.
Highlights include a summer exhibition uncovering the fascinating stories behind the collectors who gifted their wonderful treasures, include a rare ancient Egyptian mummy coffin-top.
As part of the celebrations, the trustees are appealing for people to share their most touching moments in a ‘Memories of the Museum’ project, which will use a mixture of oral and written accounts to build a picture of how it has impacted on people’s lives.
Curator Julia Tanner said: “There is so much to celebrate – 130 years ago our founder Sir Jonathan Hutchinson, is considered to have revolutionised the role of museums in education and made his collections accessible to everyone.
