The Met Office has issued a severe weather warning, with 45mph to 60mph gusts set to move east across the country on Saturday accompanied by heavy downpours.
People are urged to be aware of the possibility of localised travel disruption.
A Met Office spokesman said: "An active frontal zone is expected advance steadily east across the country through Saturday, accompanied by strong, gusty winds and periods of heavy rain.
"While the strongest gusts are likely to be confined to coastal districts at first, and in the immediate vicinity of the front, gales are likely to become more widespread inland later in the morning and through the afternoon.
"Winds should ease markedly as the front clears through, particularly in the south.”
