STEP by Step is calling on people to “grow a tenner” to help young people affected by homelessness in Surrey and Hampshire.

The Aldershot-based charity is participating in Localgiving’s Grow Your Tenner campaign, taking place until 5pm, on Wednesday, November 18, or when all the funds have run out – whichever comes first.

One-off donations will be matched up to £10, and monthly donations up to £10 per month for three months. Step by Step will use funds raised through the campaign to provide training, support and accommodation for young homeless people.

Jenny Jackson, Step by Step’s corporate and community fundraiser said: “Grow Your Tenner is an exciting campaign and a fantastic opportunity for us to finish the year on a high.

“All donations will make a huge difference to us and with the added bonus of doubled donations we hope people will join in.

“As the weather gets colder and Christmas is fast approaching, this is an especially important time to help vulnerable young people at risk of ending up on the streets.

“Even an additional £100 of funding would provide an emergency bed placement for a young homeless person for one night.”
