HASLEMERE Town Council has formally rejected proposals by Surrey County Council to introduce pay-and-display, on-street parking charges in the town.
But a meeting of the full council last week voted to support residents' parking permits in roads that want them.
The council also voted to ring fence £10,000 in the next financial year to pay for parking measures for residents, if needed – should the county council drop all its proposals.
