LIFTING the lid on South East Water’s Community Chest has revealed £30,000 to share between local good causes.

The water company has launched its Community Chest Fund which is open to community groups, charities and not-for-profit organisations in Hampshire to apply for donations of anything from a few pounds up to £2,500.

The fund has already awarded £90,000 to good causes in the water company’s supply area for a range of projects including buying water bottles for primary school pupils and helping grow some community allotments.

South East Water is asking for help to spread the word once more with the scheme now in its fourth year,

South East Water’s Jo Osborn said: “Our work to provide top quality drinking water to our customers in Hampshire ensures we are part of the local community. We are committed to supporting these neighbourhoods in other ways, and our Community Chest Fund will again help good causes needing a financial boost develop projects that can make a difference.”

Applications are open to group projects within the water company’s supply area that are water or environment related, or help the young, old or disadvantaged.

All requests for funding are to be submitted by midnight on Saturday, October 31, and successful organisations will be informed about their funding from Friday, November 6.
