WAVERLEY Borough Council has gone against the advice of a Government planning inspector and is standing by its maligned Core Strategy (CS) planning blueprint, vowing to revise its housing demand figures rather than withdraw the plan entirely.

The course of action was identified by inspector Michael Hetherington as carrying "a substantial risk" if the required work could not be carried out within a realistic timescale, resulted in the plan effectively being rewritten or failed to address his concerns.
